shockwave
therapy
Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) is the application of Shock Waves in medicine.
It is clinically proven that pressure waves, when applied to injured tissues, stimulate metabolic reactions:

-
Reduction of pain felt by nerve fibers
-
Increase of blood circulation in surrounding soft tissues
-
Beginning of healing process triggered by stem cells activation

Radial Shockwave Therapy is an FDA cleared technology proven to increase the rate of healing for soft tissue tendinopathy. It is an advanced, non-invasive and highly effective treatment method that enhances blood circulation and accelerates the healing process causing damaged tissue to gradually regenerate.

How Shockwaves Work

A shock wave is a single acoustic pulse characterised by a rapid rise to a high peak pressure followed by a rapid drop to below ambient pressure. They are sent to the affected area from the point of contact on the skin’s surface.

The Swiss DolorClast® Method uses single acoustic pressure waves to treat musculoskeletal and dermatological pathologies. It offers and combines two technologies – the propagation of radial and/or focused shock waves – to optimise treatment results.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it hurt?

Shockwave sounds and feels like a jack hammer. We can adjust the intensity so that is well tolerated by everyone

How many treatments do I need?

Most conditions require 3 - 6 treatments spaced out 1 per week. Many people begin to feel relief during that period, however healing will continue over the next 12 weeks.

Is it expensive?

The shockwave treatment technology is slightly more expensive that traditional physiotherapy, but you will require less treatments. All treatments are covered by your extended health care plans.
